I remembered visiting my exercise guru friend a few years ago. I knocked on the door and she answered with her workout gear on. She told me that she felt sluggish and went to work out so that she would have the energy to hang out late with me. I tapped my mental breaks and wondered how that was suppose to work. My thought was the total opposite. If I want to hang late, I take a nap to build energy. So, where does she come from thinking that working out would help? I figured it out later. I am not an exercise guru and I am not a complete health nut, but I can tell the difference in my body when I focus on the way it looks and feels. On days that I eat all the wrong things and go overboard on cheating, I feel a little sluggish. When I tune my body up for working out and actually get it done, I feel amazing. The more weight I lose, the better I feel and let's not forget the looks. I once weighed over 200 pounds and the farther I get away from that number, the better I feel. So, how does it feel to weigh less? What are the great elements of weighing less?
Feeling good from the inside out is a great benefit of weighing less. Obesity is tied to illnesses that affect overall health. From heart problems to diabetes, these symptoms can't possibly make anyone feel good. Most people who have to deal with these illnesses feel bad. At this point, they are forced to do what they should have done in the first place. This may include, finally lose some weight, pay more attention to what they consume and work out to make their body stronger. Why wait? Why not start now? Some illnesses are just the result of bad habits and it is your body's message to you that is telling you to change. Don't wait for your body to tell you. Make the change and feel good inside.
Another "feel good inside" aspect reflects around being positive. I remember when I first realized that I finally made it to 200 pounds. I didn't want to and it was not my idea to weigh that much, but my habits of food and fun finally took control of me. It didn't happen overnight. It happened overtime. However, it was like I woke up one morning and it was sudden. I felt like I became the Pillsbury Dough boy overnight. Why didn't anyone tell me I looked like this? I was so happy when I didn't notice, that they probably thought I was proud of it. How did I miss this? So I went into a mode of discontent and did something about it. The challenge was taking control of my bad habits, starting my weight management program, and sticking to it. The more results I gained, the more compliments. The feeling of accomplishment, the feeling of admiration, and self-esteem was so great that I ended up with a positive attitude on life. Now, I keep that attitude by maintaining and building other goals. Weighing less made me feel better about my appearance and who I was. The challenge made me a better person. I can't give that up.
So, doesn't it feel good to weigh less? If you don't know how that feels then I think that you should try it. Looks are nice and all, but I think you should try it for your health and personal outlook on life itself. What is your reason that you want to lose weight? Feeling great is a benefit and a great reward when you are healthy. Change your health, change your attitude, change your life. You owe it to yourself to feel good.
